Husaberg was a short lived brand thanks to its success.  When Cagiva bought Husqvarna in 1988, a group of engineers in Sweden stayed back and started their own brand, aptly named after the town it started being Husabergs Udde.

Although an excellent brand and successful on the tracks, sales were slow, and KTM purchased Husaberg in 1995.  Husaberg invented the slogan “Ready to Race” and KTM adapted this as their own.

Stefan Pierer, CEO of KTM, purchased a 100% stake in Husqvarna in 2014 from BMW, and the decision to end the brand Husaberg was made.  Husqvarna wasn’t merged, instead it adapted the Husaberg engineering.
