Benefits of purchasing through our dealership
You might find that private sellers are often willing to drop prices below what you’d expect to pay via a dealership, but this doesn’t automatically make it the best option.
There are some additional benefits that come from purchasing a second hand motorcycle through us, rather than a private seller, which include but are not limited to:
- Each of our used bikes are checked over by a qualified technician to establish current market value, overall condition, required work to be completed, additional services required and damage identification
- We can provide a list of work we have completed on the bike before it was made available for sale + log books if available
- We guarantee clear title
- Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) check
- Transfer remaining QLD registration balance or 6+ months added
- Finance options available in-house
- We can organise insurance while you wait, so that you’re insured before your bike touches the road
- Expert advice
- Test rides available upon request
- After sales support, service & parts
- 30 years+ in business with great reputation – we aren’t going anywhere
Tips for purchasing a second hand motorcycle
Whether you’re buying a new or used motorcycle, it’s still an investment and this means you’ll want to be sure you know what you’re getting.
Do your homework
While we can help you to narrow down your options, it helps to have a good idea about what you want before you start shopping.
Do some research so that when you start your search, you’ll have a clearer idea about what you’re looking for in terms of age, brand, engine size and even price. Keep in mind, however, that the more flexible you are, the easier it will be to find the right bike. It is usually best, however, to know what you’re willing to be flexible on and what you’re not.
Regardless of what type of bike you’re looking to get, you’ll want to make sure you complete a series of checks to ensure you’re getting what you pay for. Firstly, ensure the mileage matches the service history (if log books are available), then check the overall bodywork to look for dents or scratches.
You’ll then want to actually test the steering to see whether it’s moving freely before inspecting the suspension by bouncing the bike on the back.
Check all the indicators and lights to see that they are in working condition before moving onto the brakes to check the discs and the brake pad material. Inquire about whether the bike’s been modified in any way as this could end up impacting the cost of your insurance.
Take a test ride
The test ride will tell you a lot about a bike, see how quickly you can start the bike. Once you’re riding it you’ll be able to see and feel how smooth various components are, including the brake, clutch and throttle controls. You’ll also be able to see how smoothly the bike changes gears, as well as the quality of the suspension. Ensure that you take it on the open road and get a feel for the riding position.
What you’re not getting
It’s as important to know what you’re not getting in a second hand bike as it is to know what you are getting. Second hand bikes do not automatically come with additional extras like warranties or the latest in safety tech. Of course, this will depend on the specific bike your buying, so make sure you know what you’re taking home. Look out for things such as balances of warranty and dealership warranties if you don’t want to leave yourself unprotected.
A second hand bike purchase doesn’t need to be a throw of the dice, if you put in the work and you can walk away with something really spectacular at a fraction of the usual cost.
