Launched in 2016, skipping a year this 2018 model was updated.  You keep the lightweight LCD dash, back lit to perfection with all the data you want. A back torque slipper clutch was added, power was increased and better mapped. New colours were added. Feedback was the bike is a vast improvement.

The traction control can be switched off, or pick one of the three modes.  110kW, or 150hp in old speak, mated with 104Nm torque means this 999cc in-line 4 answers the call.  Smooth 6 speed transmission, typical of Suzuki, is like butter when changing. Inverted 43mm KYB forks are tuned with the chassis for the streets, it’s ideal lifestyle. Linked rear suspension with coils and oil dampening keep the back where you want it. Time to start the ride, enter Suzuki Easy Start.  One press, without the clutch pulled, and the starter winds without you holding the button, until she fires.  The starter knows to stop when the moment arrives. The headlight, bright on the road and easily seen by oncoming traffic, turns on with LED position markers sitting down under like angry teeth. This thing looks naked aggressive. Listen to the raw power from the 4-2-1 exhaust, with a note that’s standard cranky.

As you saddle up and ride, you know that ventilation holes now between the pistons help reduce pumping loss therefore increasing power output. Cam profiles optimise power too, tuned for the street not the racetrack where they originally were invented for. Finite Element Method engineered pistons mean ideal rigidity and weight.

Radiator shrouds now push air to the fresh design and very efficient now round shape radiator. When you mate that with the lightweight compact liquid-cooled oil cooler, heat will be gone to keep the motor efficient and running happy.

There’s reduced friction with the clever Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) coatings. Perfect fueling thanks to 10 hole injectors, for combustion precision and amazing economy. The long stroke motor means a broad power delivery, which is what you want when working the tacho on the twisties.

TRP make the wheels.  They are cast alloy and lightweight, with 6 spokes for a sporty look. Shead by Dunlop tyres, it’s street oriented grip that keeps you where you are pointing.  The control is there too with the Renthal black Fat Bar, standard on all models. Sitting on the bike, the 810mm seat height keeps you in the ultimate street riding position. All of this wrapped around a lightweight chassis.

Suzuki’s legendary Two Year Factory Warranty with unlimited kilometres keep your mind at ease during ownership.  After all, it’s a Suzuki so doubtful you’ll even use it.
